The villa was probably designed by Karl Seidel, an architect from Vienna, between 1898 and 1899 for Joseph Richter. It has a well-preserved façade in the early and mature Renaissance style. The two-storey building has a loggia in the east elevation and a terrace in the south. The Neo-Renaissance interiors with stone fireplaces, coming from Antoni Urbanowski’s factory in Łódź, are also neo-Renaissance. In 1933 the Governor of Łódź resided there. In 1939 it was sold to Helmut Biederman. After the war, it was used as an orphanage and then as the Wedding Palace of the Łódź-Polesie USC. Today, it houses the Rectorate of the Technical University of Łódź.
