The bank on Piotrkowska street

Piotrkowska, Łódź

e-mail kbakon@bookmacher.com.pl

The history of the property dates back to 1832. Initially, the site housed a small textile workshop and a wooden house. In the 1870s, the property was acquired by Gustaw Lorenz, a Łódź industrialist who ran a woollen goods factory. He built a front building on Piotrkowska Street and developed the production facilities at the rear of the property, including weaving workshops and mechanised weaving mills. In 1911, the front building was purchased by the Riga Commercial Bank, which converted it into its headquarters. The three-storey tenement house continued to serve as a bank until the 2010s. The building is currently vacant.
