Apartment on Pogonowskiego street
Pogonowskiego
A flat in a tenement house from 1819, situated on the ground floor of the front building. The tenement consists of two buildings separated by a courtyard: an outbuilding and an inner tenement. These two independent buildings have two small courtyards.
The apartment is located on Pogonowskiego Street (formerly Zakątna Street). The stairwell still features the original doorwork leading to the interior hallways and is currently being restored. Originally, one wing of the building was occupied by a single family’s apartment in this tenement house. During World War II, after the deportation of Jewish families, each wing was divided into many smaller apartments. This explains the layout of the shared hallway behind the decorative doors.
